January
- 18th - Plans are announced to pave 4th Street from the Monon Railroad tracks to Rose Hill Cemetery.
- 19th - The Campbell & Company department store is broken into overnight. Police officers quickly take two men into custody.
- Work begins on the new Federal Building at College Avenue and 7th Street. Granite was to be used on the first floor level and cut stone in the remainder of the building, with a marble and plaster lobby and a tin roof.

March
Mar. 21: Five workers at a Spencer factory are struck and killed by a speeding Monon Railroad train, possibly at the Woodyard Road intersection.
Work starts on remodeling the old Methodist Church into an armory. The building was entirely changed in the next few days on the inside; and the spire was demolished and a cannon and flag staff mounted on the spire base.

- John McDowell sells a farm of 75 acres near the creosoting company plant to a Mr. Smith, of Johnson county, for $7,500.
- William Curry sells a farm of 2 acres in Perry Township to a Mr. Manis, of Freedom, for $4,000.
- 30th - Frank Todd is shot and mortally wounded by Clinton Hovious
