Allen Street
Allen Street is an east/west street on Bloomington's south side. It exists in two long, unconnected segments. The western spur begins near the Bloomington Sportsplex at an intersection with Bloomfield Road. It runs east for roughly 1.3 miles, passing Adams Street, Patterson Drive, the Cook Pharmica building, and Rogers Street, before ending in a T at Madison Street. The eastern spur begins just over 300 feet to the east in a T at Morton Street. From there it heads due east, crossing Walnut Street, and coming to a stop at Henderson Street across from Bryan Park.
The western spur is a convenient way to head due east from 2nd Street. From the Sportsplex 2nd Street runs northeast toward Downtown, so Allen is an shorter alternative for getting back to Rogers Street or Walnut Street close to Grimes Lane.
Going west on Allen Street, the hills and the traffic make it difficult to turn left onto 2nd Street to continue west. Patterson Drive is an easier strategy.
