Dan Dakich
Dan Dakich was an Indiana University basketball player from 1982-1985 and was the interim head coach of IU basketball in 2008. A graduate of Andrean High School in Merrilville, Dakich is remembered for his excellent defensive play, especially against Michael Jordan in the 1984 NCAA tournament.
After graduating, Dakich joined the Hoosier sideline as an assistant coach to Bobby Knight, and stayed in that position until 1997, when he received an offer to become the head coach at Bowling Green. He stayed there for ten years before returning to Bloomington to become director of basketball operations at IU for the end of the 2007-2008 season after the resignation of Kelvin Sampson. However, he was not offered the job after the season, and Tom Crean was hired instead.
After coaching, he began a broadcasting career with an Indianapolis talk radio show. In 2010, he became an analyst and color commentator for ESPN.
Dakich is married and has two children.
