Frank McCloskey (June 12, 1939 – November 2, 2003) was the Mayor of Bloomington from 1972-1982 and served six terms in the US Congress as the representative of Indiana's Eighth District. As mayor, he is credited with revitalizing the downtown Bloomington area. As a congressman, he helped stop the closure of NSA Crane, he helped to bring peace and stability to Bosnia and the Balkans.
The Frank X. McCloskey Post Office on the corner of Pete Ellis Drive and east 10th Street was named for him during a ceremony in 2004. His full name was Francis Xavier McCloskey. State Highway 45 was also named for him on December 9th, 2004.
