---On Dec. 31, 1857, the City of Bloomington government was dissolved, because the citizens believed that the taxes were unfair, the streets were not being improved by the government, and unruly behavior of several commmunity members was not being stopped. There were no further mayors until July 6th, 1876. City was run by Board of Trustees instead. ---
