Smallwood Plaza
Smallwood Plaza is an eight-story complex of 240 upscale residential units consisting of two, three, and four bedrooms, situated on College Avenue between 8th Street and 9th Street. It also contains more than 17,000 feet of retail space, including Cardinal Fitness.
First proposed by John Jacobs of Bloomington and Guy Totino of Cleveland in 2002, the building was opened by Polaris Real Estate Equities in 2004, replacing a site that been the home to ST Semicon for many years, but was at that time an empty lot and an eyesore.
The property owners have gone to some trouble to be good citizens, sponsoring movie nights at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater and donating $25,000 to move a historic house to a new location at 718 W. Kirkwood Avenue.
The property managers are Midwest Property Services.
