January
- The Whitaker Building opens at 6th and Morton Streets. The Franklin-Kaser furniture company and Home Bakery were initial occupants. The building would eventually house the Lincoln Hotel. There is a picture available at the Monroe County History Center.
February
- The Book Nook is sold by the Poolitsan Cantly company to Peter S. and Harry S. Costas of Chicago. Rumors put the sale price at $20,000.
- The Driscoll addition and Barclay Gardens are electrified, in order to provide power for the Silvertone Stucco company and the American Oolitic
limestone company, as well as a new stone company at Clear Creek.
- The Horse Thief Detective Association petitions for the right of deputy power for its members. The county commissioners refuse.

Louis Becovitz of the Vogue purchases the City Book and Music location from L. D. Rogers and Sons for $22,000. It is a two-story brick building on Walnut Street, the third from 6th Street.
